June San Antonio Update
June was our All-American outreach...freedom! This year, we combined flip flops with a beach bag and it was a hit. We went into our first club armed with 25 gifts, sandwiches, and a whole lot of LOVE. In this particular club, we saw many new faces, all a little unsure why we would bring them gifts and free food. Several even tried to pay! One girl we had never met walked in and said, “What the heck is going on here?” Another girl walked by and said, “You don’t know them? They come once a month and just love on us.” We responded with, “We’re here to bring you a gift and let you know how much Jesus loves you.” She quickly responded, “I have made too many bad decisions. God doesn’t love me.”
As our team continued to talk to her, several things struck me about this conversation. First, I love that the other girls are understanding our desire to consistently come and just love on them. Success! God is faithful in our obedience! Second, her statement absolutely broke my heart. I thought back to the lineage of Jesus...how it’s riddled with people who made terrible choices but were still used to bring the Savior of humanity into the world. These darling daughters have been created with gifts and a purpose, and their bad choices do not determine their worth! Thank you Jesus that our purpose and your love are not based on our choices, good or bad. This woman’s perspective is not so unique. This conversation happened in some fashion at every club we visited on Friday night. I love how God can use things as small as flip flops and beach bags to open the door for His LOVE.
We have been in contact via text with a few girls over the past couple of months, but we have seen one girl in particular in the club for over a year now. Though she wasn’t working on Friday, she came to the club purely to see us. We waited in the car with her gift. When she arrived, she told one of our team members that she hasn’t been working much and is ready to get out of the industry. She is looking for a job and wants to meet with us so we can help her! God is so faithful! We connected with several girls who are ready to get out. Please pray they continue to reach out to us so we can help them!
I have been busy this month adding some wonderful people to our team. Our prayer team is underway to start in August. We have had a few dancers reach out to us about meeting this month, and we have made some great connection in our community.
We are looking for people who want to serve on our prayer team. It’s a huge, awesome responsibility! We currently have 4 people serving, but we would love to add more willing hearts. If you’re interested, please contact Michelle Canamar or fill out a form here! Also, as girls are deciding to transition out of the industry, we are praying and looking for partners to provide job opportunities. If you own a business, are a manager, or know someone who is, please shoot us an email. We want to get these girls connected as soon a possible!
I would love to thank my club team member Cici Fritts and Oak Hills Church for providing supplies for this month's outreach! We needed 75 flip flops, but received over 100! They also raised over $400 for our sandwiches. WOW! Cici worked so hard, as she does every month, to collect everything. Her heart and passion for this ministry are inspiring, and I don’t think she will ever know how much she means to me or JSL San Antonio. Thank you Cici for you dedication.

Our prayer this month is that girls will continue to feel God’s love even when we aren’t there. We prayed Friday night that every time they put on those flip flops...“as shoes for their feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.” Ephesians 6:15
Blessing to all of you and continue to pray with us for girls to have an encounter with Jesus!
