August Dallas Update
From City Team Leader Jodi:
July has been a month filled with meetings, introductions, learning, learning and more learning. The Lord has been awakening hearts and bringing attention to the needs of women in the clubs and the prevalence of sex trafficking in our city. As the City Team Leader here in Dallas, I would love for many to join the journey of Jesus Said Love by praying alongside our team in the month August.
As Dallas relaunches, we have a huge need for church partnerships, both through volunteers and financial donors. The more churches that join our vision, the more we will be equipped to meet the needs of women and their families. Churches have so many people that are equipped with time, talent, money and influence who could become resources to support the women we come in contact with in Dallas. In the New Testament, the Greek word for The Church is “ekklesia,” which literally translates to, ”called out ones.” We as believers are called out from the world by God to live as his people under the authority of Jesus Christ and to follow in His ways.
Paul, begins 1 Corinthians by addressing the church;
“To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours; Grace to you and peace from God our Father Lord Jesus Christ.”
My prayer is to see at least 10 churches in Dallas partner with JSL before the first outreach in December. Pray that churches will have an open door policy, meetings will begin to formulate in the next month, and financial needs will soon be met.
Also, Jesus Said Love must have people ready and willing to meet the needs of women we serve, either by going into the clubs or working behind the scenes. We need a group of leaders and volunteers ready to get their hands dirty and love women where they are. (If you're interested, click here!)
God calls each one of us to be stewards who hold the “mysteries of God.” We are doing others a disservice if we hold onto this wealth He has so freely gifted us. We must be willing to share with those in need of hope.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s grace;” ! Peter 4:10
“This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.” 1 Corinthians 4:1-2
Pray that the Lord begins to form HIS team for Dallas. That all 7 Teams (Go, Love, Security, Hospitality, Babysitting, Baking & Bags) are filled with Godly men and women of ALL ages willing to serve.
Pray specifically, that the Lord brings 7 people to lead the teams listed above. Pray that He prepares those leaders’ hearts for the challenge ahead.
Lastly, JSL’s desire is to awaken hope and empower change for the women in the commercial sex industry. December is right around the corner and while a new team brings excitement, this can also come with anxiety. Entering the clubs in December will be the beginning of new relationships with clubs, management and dancers. This will be a vital step in the relaunch of Dallas and set the standard for JSL in the area.
“And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 11:19
“Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said, “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they see with their eyes and understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.” John 12:39-40
“Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous person who need no repentance.” Luke 15:7
Pray that over the next few months, women and men in the sex industry begin to stir with a desire for hope. Pray that they begin to be open to the idea of new relationships and are ready to receive love in a new way. Pray that these women and men we come in contact with come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Over the last month, the Lord has constantly reminded me that Jesus Said Love is run by Him and Him alone. We are to submit to His authority and He will guide our path. He has also reminded me that he is a gracious God, willing to bless and give to those who are seeking HIm.
“Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive, that your joy will be made full.” John 16:24
Please join me by seeking God in prayer, asking Him to freely give the things listed above. Please also pray for me as the City Team Leader of Dallas, that I am open and ready for Him to move in exciting new ways.
