If gender violence is the No. 1 factor of global poverty, and such violence occurs within our very own culture...who is responsible?

  • Gender violence (the sexual abuse of women and children) is the leading factor of global poverty.

  • Women aged 15-44 are more likely to be maimed or die from male violence than from cancer, malaria, traffic accidents, and war combined.

  • The average age of (female) entry to the commercial sex industry is 12 years old.

  • An estimated 18,000 foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States each year.  The number of US citizens trafficked within our own borders are even higher, with an estimate of more than 200,000 American children at high risk for trafficking into the sex industry each year.

  • 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys in the United States are sexually exploited before they reach adulthood.

  • Child trafficking, child pornography, and international sex tourism now generates billions of dollars a year worldwide.

  • 70% of men ages 18-28 regularly view porn.

  • 1 of 3 visitors to all adult websites are women.

  • A content analysis of the 50 best-selling adult videos revealed that across all scenes:

    • 48% contained verbal aggression

    • 88% showed physical aggression

    • 72% of these aggressive acts were perpetrated by men

    • 94% of  these aggressive acts were committed against women.

  • 76% of victims in Net-initiated sexual exploitation cases were between ages 13-15 (75% were girls)

  • Between 66%-90% of women working in the sex industry were sexually abused as children

  • 89% of women in the sex industry said they wanted to escape, but had no other means for survival.

  • Women in the sex industry experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder at rates equivalent to veterans of combat war.

  • 70% of women who are trafficked are trafficked through the commercial sex industry.

THIS IS NOT ONLY A GLOBAL ISSUE, BUT DOMESTIC ONE: OUR CHOICES CAN FREE OR ENSLAVE OTHERS. GENDER VIOLENCE IS PERPETUATED THROUGH OUR CULTURE OF MUSIC, MEDIA, AND THE COMMERCIAL SEX INDUSTRY.

STOP THE DEMAND, BECOME A PART OF THE SOLUTION.

  • The USA is the #1 worldwide producer of pornography

  • The USA is home to the most porn sites: 244,661,900.

  • The US boasts more strip clubs than any other country in the world.
