Our last outreach was not was not like any other outreach we have had since our Tyler team has started. It was different. It was crucial. It was important. The work we do is not for us it is for others.

When we go into the club we prepare our hearts for what God has in store with the ladies, but also with the club owners. We were able to have a crucial conversation with the owner of one club we have frequented in the last year. Not only were we able to expand our minds to his place of business and the role he plays in the girls' lives, but we were also given the privilege to expand his mind of Christ's love and what that looks like in the commercial sex industry.

We can look at our conversations as speed bumps in the road to the kingdom or we can look at them as potholes. Since our team believes in the revolutionary love of Christ we choose the former rather than the latter. What’s the difference? Potholes are formed by erosion- the wear and tear of elements surrounding it often leaving damage to those in its pathway, whereas speed bumps slow us down, ultimately protecting those around us but allowing a tiny hiccup in our journey. Speed bumps bring us to a halt so we can assess the damages a pothole may have left behind. Speed bumps force us to be cautious with our actions, and potholes don’t give warning signs- they’re just waiting for you.

When we are passionate about something we tend to hit the full-speed-ahead mode. I can’t say that ministry works well that way. What I can say is when we slow down and develop personal solid relationships with these ladies, our journey may take more time but it has more substance.

My team thanks God with every ounce of our being for the relationships we are building in the two clubs we visit. Bump or no bump it’s a privilege to receive enough grace from Jesus to be loved and to live that purposeful love out with the women we come into contact with. Thank you to my bag team for putting together the prints! It takes a whole village to make outreach happen! Thank you to our prayer team for standing firm against the enemy while praying for our safety and conversations. We still have a need for security and prayer team. So send your people if they are in the East Texas area!

DALLAS UPDATE

SNAPSHOT:

  • 130 Prints gifted
  • 4 Club Team Members
  • 2 Security Team Members
  • 6 Prayer Team Members

Our May Outreach was small in number for the Club and Security teams, but our Prayer team was mighty both in number and prayer. Even with our small numbers, outreach was full of conversation and relational growth. Our gift this month was a print by Lovely and all of our friends LOVED it. Upon leaving, we noticed several women had placed their print inside their lockers as a kind reminder of courage.

Our word for the year is “Fearless”, and our teams have done a beautiful job stepping out and being fearless in their bold communication - specifically with prayer within the dressing rooms. We have one particular club where we circle up and pray prior to leaving for the night and now we have a second club where we are doing the same. It is beautiful to see a full circle of women gathered together in the dressing room - and our sweet House Mom joined right in with us. Hearing this House Mom say "Wait for me!", brought joy to my heart and tears to my eyes; as I have been slowly building a relationship with her for 4 years. After the prayer, we were saying our goodbyes and as always I hugged the House Mom and she took that time to tell me that we need to sit down together so she can tell me her story (I have been asking her to lunch for years!!). This outreach God reminded me it’s all in His time, not mine; I’m just to be obedient in what He has commanded me to do.
