Pies, pies, pies, and more pies.
We were armed with 56 of them as we headed into the clubs. As we ate and chatted about Thanksgiving plans with the girls, I was especially struck by one question.
She simply asked “What did I do to deserve this?”
With a broken heart, I responded, “Nothing. We just want you to know you are loved, valued and worthy.”
But as I left the club and went about my Thanksgiving with my own family, I couldn’t shake her question from my mind. This woman, delighted over by the God of the universe, didn’t believe she was worth a slice of pie!
I urge you to stop and step into her shoes for a minute. She believes that she must earn everything. When was the last time you asked whether or not you deserved food? If she only knew that “one glance from you, my love, captures my heart” (Song of Solomon 4:11). I might get one chance to give her one small gift and to tell her how much she is loved. I pray I never let a moment pass or an idle word come from my mouth in the clubs. I pray that when she glances towards God she will receive the love He is pouring out on her.
We have had so many girls express they are ready to leave the industry. Please pray for the courage to take that step, and also for new jobs and the means to step into them. If you read these updates and feel you can or want to help in some way, please contact me! We have some exciting things coming next year and we can’t do them without an army of people.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, from baking cookies to filling bags. Key volunteer roles are: Bag Team Leader, Volunteer Team Leader, and Prayer Team members. If you would like more info on getting involved and loving these women, please email me.
I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who baked or bought a pie!! We had so many groups and individuals that came together and provided all the pies we needed! Love you all!
